My dear Tood,
In reply to your letter of July 14th, we are
proposing to set up a small Committee under the Chair-
manship of Sir John Jordan to consider the whole ques-
tion of education in China, and the China Association
will be represented on this Committee.
The question of the use of our share of the Boxer
Indemnity will be discussed by the Committee, out it is
not possible to say at present whether it will be possible
to devote any of it for educational purposes in China.
